On September 29 and October 1 the Kienbaum Law Group, P.C., in conjunction with Swogger, Bruce & Millar Law Firm and JustUs, hosted lectures on the current status of LGBT rights in America. The lectures focused in particular on how the latest advancements in LGBT rights affect employers, and took place in Detroit and Traverse City, Michigan. The watershed Supreme Court decision Obergefell v. Hodges that granted same-sex couples the right to marry has significant implications on the duties of employers, not the least of which is the fact that employers who offer healthcare beneftis must now give same-sex couples the same offerings as heterosexual couples.
